This page belongs to Uli Hake and Teresa Sánchez Cerezuela, owners and hosts of Cal Talaia.
Cal Talaia is more than a house — it is a way of life. Beyond accommodation, we offer guided visits to explore the surroundings, we restore and care for old paths, and you can join our monthly Sardine brunch, held on the last Sunday of each month at 10 a.m. And for those who have the time, our ceramic art workshop is also open to you…
The design of this website is inspired by Mark Rothko, an American painter, ceramicist, and printmaker.1
We have documented part of the making of this site and shared some of the code and tools developed to make it possible, so they can be used and adapted by others.
- We would like to thank Automattic and Matt Mullenweg for a very rudimentary and simple template — minimalist, as they call it — which served as a base for developing our own theme for this website. Matt has taken things a bit further on his personal site as well — a private theme, like ours…
Has he made the most of that path? We don’t think so. In the end, he has created a page that does not fully respect the needs of his own proposal. He probably has a Rothko he really likes, but he hasn’t truly embraced the canvas.
Rothko’s canvases inspire — they are open, they invite you to write, to paint — but one must be deep, bold, sincere… otherwise, they cannot hold what you place upon them. ↩︎
