Things to do… and not to do

Doing nothing—or almost nothing—is a good option: cooking slowly, letting time pass, reading, meditating… and letting the surroundings gently take over: birdsongs, the murmur of water, sunsets, the flight of swallows, the majestic presence of eagles gliding overhead… And at night, look up: Orion’s Belt, Jupiter and its moons, Saturn, Sirius…

And if your body calls for it, go for a walk. Paths we’ve prepared and recorded on Wikiloc, and many others that weave through the landscape. Nearby, long-distance routes pass through, with a gentle pace and ancient memory: the GR 171 and the GR 175, the Cistercian Route.

Picking up a camera is another way of seeing. Subjects appear without being sought: while walking, pausing, letting yourself be guided. Feral cats, roe deer, badgers, foxes, birds of prey; golden orioles, woodpeckers, swallows, crag martins, bee-eaters; butterflies, snakes, mushrooms, flowers… landscapes, distinctive villages, dry-stone huts, and the seasons of the year—winter, spring, summer, and autumn—each with its own charm and colors. Everything is here. Everything awaits.

You’re close to the sea, in Tarragona, and also to freshwater spots, about 45–55 minutes away by car.

In the Prades Mountains—which in themselves are well worth a trip—you’ll find the Glorieta River, which shares its name with our village, with natural pools and lush surroundings.

We also recommend visiting Forès—the viewpoint of the Conca de Barberà—along with Conesa and Guimerà; here, the list of charming villages and hamlets is endless. Many people, after visiting, say this feels like Tuscany—and yes, they’re right: hills, vineyards, castles, churches, and a landscape largely untouched by the changes of recent centuries…

You also have the three monasteries of the Cistercian Route: Poblet, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Santes Creus, and Vallbona de les Monges.

On the websites of Turisme de la Conca de Barberà, Urgell, and Segarra, you’ll find more information and current events, such as the Tàrrega Fair, one of the most important street and alternative theatre festivals in the world.
